Day 6
What a zoo this place is.
We got up early (we still wake up early on our own from the jet lag) - around 5:30 for our tour at 8. I went out to get a phone card at 7/11 and to call the bank because our credit card has been blocked all week - that's a whole story in itself - the only card that I called ahead of time to say we would be using in China - was blocked specifically for use in China!!! oh the humanity....
Anyway, I got that squared away after about 20 minutes (luckily it was a collect call) then I got to finally call my parents. Thank God for the answering machine because they've learned not to pick up until they here who's calling :) All Mom cared about was that we were finally with the rest of the group and "I've been counting down the days" :)
We went on a tour of Hong Kong Island, the surrounding beaches, and Aberdeen Bay where the last of the original fishing village is left. But as is customary, we found our way to the marketplace where wholesale capitalism runs rampant. We bought a few outfits for Callan and a bigger suitcase for $30. It was a lot of fun if you ignore the money part....
After lunch at 1:30 they turned everyone loose. Chris and I, not sure what to do in this part of the world where we have never been or may never see again - went shopping and bought another suitcase. This one cost $20. We're starting to get the hang of it.
I took a billion more pictures today but I'll have to upload them later. We're leaving tomorrow at 9:30 am and we had to pack 2 suitcases into 2 other suitcases - plus all the new souvenirs. It's about 10:30 pm here and I better get some sleep - we're counting down the days, you know.
